Statement:Greater Syracuse Progressive Coalition

This is a suggested mission statement for the Greater Syracuse Progressive Coalition, sent by Andy Mager:

The Greater Syracuse Progressive Coalition brings together organizations and individuals committed to creating a more fair, just and peaceful community. We believe that true democracy must include the voices of all people-regardless of race, class, gender, sexual orientation or ability.

Here in Central New York, as around the country, the common good has been forsaken for the interests of those with money and power, threatening the very
foundations of democracy.

This contradicts our fundamental principles as a nation and, by working collaboratively,we seek to reverse this trend.

We are organizations who work for social justice, peace, workers rights, criminal justice reform, environmental protection, economic justice, equal rights for all and more. We welcome others to join our efforts to share information and work together for the good of our entire community, state, nation and the world.

We are looking for any interested new members and it would be great for people to think about and/or send responses/ideas to the 'syracuse progressive list' for discussion. It will be the first item on the agenda for our next meeting:

Mon., June 27, 5:30 pm. CNY Labor Federation, 404 Oak Street, Syracuse

Hope to see you there!
