CMC Workshop Fri, May 6
"Clients and Conflict: Exploring Interpersonal Communication Skills."
This three and one-half hour workshop is designed as an interactive forum for individuals employed with public and non-profit community organizations who work with clients that are frequently embroiled in interpersonal communication conflicts. This workshop will introduce basic conflict management skills, including recognition of the different conflict styles, reflective listening, assertion statements, and distinguishing positions and interests. However, the format differs from traditional skill-building trainings, as it is meant to open space for practitioners to discuss their experiences in the field, their frustrations with certain conflict situations, and the manner in which conflict management skills resonate with their particular needs. The three trainers are the 2005-2006 Coordinators for the Conflict Management Center, and are especially interested in receiving community input to design next year's CMC programming, with attentiveness to community needs.
The workshop will be held on Friday, May 6, from 1pm to 4:30 pm at the Westcott Community Center, 826 Euclid Avenue, Syracuse. Participants must register by May 4. Registration is free, but limited in number. Refreshments will be served. We would like to find out if your employees and volunteers are interested and if they would find this forum helpful. If you have any questions or comments, please feel welcome to contact me.
Thank you for your consideration.
